Well, actually I liked the idea of streaming apps with Azure RemoteApps. Now Microsoft decided to discontinue RemoteApps. Read the details here.
Application remoting and the Cloud
New tests and the purchase of the Azure RemoteApp service are no longer possible.
“Azure RemoteApp is being discontinued. The trial period for subscription *** expired on 13.08.2016 and can no longer access Azure RemoteApp. Click here for more information.“
Existing Azure RemoteApp customers can use the service through August 31st, 2017.
The future? Well see it in the source blogpost:
Microsoft states: “…Customers have provided us consistent feedback that they want a comprehensive, end-to-end, cloud-based solution for delivering Windows apps. The best way for us to deliver this is with Citrix through XenApp “express”, currently under development. XenApp “express” combines the simplicity of application remoting and the scalability of Azure with the security, management, and performance benefits of XenApp, to deliver Windows applications to any employee on any device. We will have much more to share on this offering through the coming months.” says the Remote Desktop Team in Application remoting and the Cloud.
Fare well, Azure RemoteApp service…
